6th Annual Gridiron Fest Saturday August 14th, 2010

LATEST NEWS

7.26.10

Dear Gridiron Club Family,

We had a nice meeting the other night including welcoming some new folks.  Our Freshman team parent is working diligently to “Connect” sooner with the incoming Freshman players and their families as we have learned from the past it takes a little time to learn the routine and the communication channels.

Some issues to clarify and to remind everyone of:

  1. The Extra T-Shirts (official Team Shirt) are all size XL and XXL and are $10.  Payment for shirts should be made to Coach Hegarty personally.

  2. I have attached the flyer for our official NHHS sports rugs that we offer.  We ordered these a few years ago and have sold many, but still have approx. 20 in stock.  Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in purchasing a Huskies Rug for your home or office.  Please disregard the ordering information relative to Paul Nowak as I will administer any orders. Click HERE for a PDF order form.

  3. Raffle ticket $ clarification - The Raffle Tickets are available from Coach Hegarty NOW.  The tickets should be paid for at the time of pick-up, if possible.  They will, however, be handed out at Coach’s discretion with the expectation that payment will follow in a day or two if the player/parent doesn’t have the payment ready at the time of pick-up.  The LATEST expected payment is the day of equipment pick-up, which is less than a week prior to the Fest.  Therefore, folks should be arranging to get their tickets from Coach Hegarty at the weight room and/or during the O & D Camp if they wish.  Again, payment for the tickets is expected at the time the tickets are picked up or shortly thereafter per whatever you work out with Coach Hegarty.  We just wanted to clarify this issue a little better.

  4. One (or more) of the raffles on the day of the Gridiron Fest involves raffling bottles of liquor donated by families of the Gridiron Club.  Therefore, we are respectfully asking that everyone that can please donate a bottle of liquor to the cause.  We will email the details of how this will be organized as far as receiving the donations.

Thanks,
Jeff Williamson - President

Dear Huskies Gridiron Club Family,

The Solicitation Letters to local businesses have been mailed out.  Hopefully, donations will begin pouring in soon.  Kim Kolln has graciously accepted the position this season of collecting the donations for the ‘Fest.  Thanks to Tracy Ellis for her work last year in that capacity.  I have attached the actual letter for your use.  Please don’t hesitate to make copies and deliver this letter to anyone you think may be interested in supporting our Gridiron Fest activities or simply in helping out the Nathan Hale football program.  The letter is 3 pages (pg. 1 is printed on both front & back) and a separate sheet (pg. 2) that can be sent back with a donation.

I have also printed up 50 Posters for announcing the Gridiron Fest and will be posting those locally this coming week.  I have attached an electronic version.  Please feel free to make a copy and post at your place of business or anywhere else that you believe will attract attention to help promote the ‘Fest.

We have printed 6,000 Raffle tickets, so each player in the football program (Freshmen thru Seniors) will be responsible for picking up a bare minimum of thirty (30) raffle tickets from Coach Hegarty and the football staff in the weight room or at the latest on the day of equipment pick-up.  A letter explaining the purpose of the raffle and the responsibility of each family is attached as well as posted on our website.  This letter will also be handed out with the tickets.  We trust that our communication on this is clear that raffle ticket sales are a very important aspect of our fundraising and we expect every family of a football player to participate in some manner.

Lastly, the new Huskies Football Era under Coach Hegarty is introducing a new fundraising opportunity in the form of a Lift-A-Thon, which emphasizes the importance of the off-season work in the weight room.  Attached is the Explanation and Pledge Sheet for each player to use to obtain pledges from friends and neighbors.  All of these funds will also go to our Huskies Gridiron Club, an ALL-Volunteer Not-for-Profit organization dedicated to Nathan Hale Football support.  Pledge Sheets are due to Coach Hegarty by August 6, 2010.

We would like to meet on Wednesday, July 21.  The time and location will be emailed under separate cover.  It will be in the evening.  Meeting minutes from our last meeting are attached.

Thanks in advance for your assistance with these endeavors.  Let’s make this year the most successful ever at Gridiron Fest 2010!

Go HUSKIES!

Sincerely,
Jeff Williamson

Dear Gridiron Club,

Our new Coach, Coach Hegarty, and I met recently and the Gridiron ‘Fest 2010 is finally scheduled for Saturday, August 14.  The tentative schedule is to have Practice early in the day on Friday August 13 allowing the boys to help with set-up later that day; and then the Green/White Scrimmage will occur on the morning of the ‘Fest adding a new dimension to that important day.

We will begin our formal planning on Monday evening, May 24 @ 8:30 pm at Champp’s Americana in Brookfield, WI (on Moorland just north of Greenfield Ave.).  I have a room reserved (on the North side of the facility near the fireplace) and I’m personally picking up the tab for refreshments required during our meeting.  We will try to keep it short to about an hour since we are starting so late in the evening.

This process of “reloading” has been long and tiresome, but we are now poised and ready to continue our many traditions and develop some new ones as we rally the support for the Nathan Hale Football program in its goals of winning Championships……NOW!

I look forward to seeing you at the meeting.  Have a great weekend.

Thanks,

Jeff Williamson
